i wish to drive this type of led for dashboard using mcu
http://www.fairchildsemi.com/ds/QT/QTLP670C.pdf
with forward current around 30mA.
around 14-15 of this leds need to be driven.
what is the suggested driver i should use?

You can use 500mA X 8 driver IC( ULN2802 ) or you can employ ordinary transistors with currents of up to 500mA such as 2N2222 ..

Not necessarily .. if you look inside, say, motor bike ignition boxes you will find out that they use standard components, but after testing the box just potted with a non-corrosive resin ..
