mech,
Synopsys IC Compiler or Synopsys ICC is new. Targetted primarily for the ASIC and SoC design market.
If you are only working with digital, it is OK with the basic and advanced editing toolboxes and check rules, constraints settings and process selection etc.
If you are also working with analog and RF, Cadence would be a better and more popular layout editor and it can also import Synopsys netlist generated from the Synopsys Design Compiler. The physical layout edited in Cadence can also be used by Synopsys Prime Time to perform post-layout simulation.

I am a digital designer, but not responsible of purchasing tools. I am just curious about this tool and how it is positioned in synopsys tools suite.
