Hi guys
Is it possible to do P&R with only LEF file (and NO LIB file)in any one ,
synopsys ASTRO, or
magma BLAST FUSION, or
cadence FIRST ENCOUNTER,
is it possible to do it P&R without timing information of the standard cells
(i.e., .lib file) in the above tools,
help me regarding this,

Hi,
Yeah,with only "LEF" file you can do P&R.
Most of unmerged IP(esp. analog IP) provide LEF only for layout.
You must treat it as a blackbox when you're doing timing analysis and add port input delay or output delay manually.

Thanks iamchine,
But can it be done in the Magma Tool ?
bocs in Magma the design flow starts with library preparation,
During this process, when we prepare libraryfor the design without LIB file for Macro, we are not able to View Macro Layout, i.e., there is no physical information about the MACRO,
Due to this problem i am not able to proceed with the Physical design,
Is there any solution for it ??????????????

HI,
can u tell in detail about exact the meaning of "library preparation", because wiithout timing library (.lib from synopsis, .tlf from artisan) P & R tool will not work and library preparation for .LEF file.

Hi kulprashant,
The library preparation is a starting Phase in Magma,
u have to build a database of the standard and Macro cells
with both Timing and Physical information.
It is called Volcano in Magma, once the volcano is prepared,
u can use it for both Logical Synthesis and Physical Design
u can do any design with that Volcano as the Target Library,
Got it!!!!!!!!!
