i have used this UART and i have to say that this is the best. you can customize it according to your needs. but when i started with this UART i got a little bit confused with the documentation. maybe that was because of my little knowledge but in the end im happy with this UART.

i also tried to use the one at opencores and one that was on fpga4fun. but after all that i went with the micro-UART

uart using verilog
Hi. Xilinx have a free UART core in their application notes. You must register in xilinx before you can download from here. IP cores are in Verilog and VHDL.

I am using Altera's DE1 kit. I want to interface Uart to the computer using qu(at)rtus 2 software. I got an IP on www.cmosexod.com but dont know how to use it. Can anyone tell me how to use the IP.

I recommend the below book, which is published by Newnes
Embedded systems architecture -- a comprehensive guide for engineers and programmers.

It has good examples for UART, I2C and ethernet.
