stripline inductor

Program instantly generates a model for a balun, inductor, tapped inductor or stripline. It has been verified to predict 1st resonant frequency within 5%, the inductor value within 2% and the Q within 20% on substrates ranging from 200um to 400um thick.

This tool is essential in the design of LNA's, mixers, and other RF components because it lets the user quickly trade off area, inductance and resistance without having to do lengthy 2.5D modelling. Momentum can be used only as a final verification of the model found.

Version 2.3 posted here was compiled for Windows.

stripline indutor

Although this program has not been verifyied against PCB layouts, the balun/inductor model should be just as valid as long as you adjust the substrate parameters to match the spacing and Er values of your board. The program assumes a perfect ground below the balun (as specified by the substrate thickness) so if doing PCB inductors, make sure you put a ground underneath and specify the thickness as the distance to the ground plane.

I can't recommend a program for generic PCB stripline elements (i.e. coupled lines,etc... ) because I haven't done much work in it. ADS has a good library of stripline elements, and you can use momentum to verify and do modelling of customs items. Outside of that, you should post a message in the PCB message board or if doing RF stripline elements, in the RF section.

balun stripline -patent

Hi bill_test36,

Use AWR microwave Office for RF PCB simulations, it has excellent Microstrip, Stripline & coplanar circuit models...which includes coupled lines, junctions, etc..

They have very unique routing elements in layout which accounts for simulation...
& again it has a built in Electromagnetic simulator, so that you can simulate critical structures in that...

so try Microwave office Linear+Layout+Em simulator for RF PCB analysis...

best of luck...

pcb stripline

This is interesting software but when I enter the parameters for copper stripline at board level, the R, L, C be infinitive?
as in the attached file. Can you explain it for me?

software analysis stripline

The problem is with the Metal Conductivity... Its backwords. It should have been Metal Resistivity. Therefore while you were trying to specifiy a small resistivity, you infact specified an infinite one.

Put a small resistivity (i.e. 1E-12) and you will find the number work correctly then... Next version I'll correct it.

Re: Inductor, Balun and Stripline Modelling software

There is no user manual.

Program is self explanatory.
