what's the different between serial pattern and parallel ?

in Tetramax, u can write out the atpg pattern like:
serial pattern or parallel pattern.
what's the different between serial pattern and parallel pattern?
thank u Smile

The serial pattern is describing timing in reality, and parallel patterns is just to verify the correctness of logic, not including timing.
When in post simulation, I use serial pattern, parrallel pattern is used when I verify the pattern generated by tmax.

And you can simulate a small part of pattern in serial pattern mode, and the whole pattern in parrallel mode, This method can save many time.

Re: what's the different between serial pattern and parallel

what's the really mean of timing in serial patterns?
can i take it as that serial pattern is test for the dff ,serially in and serially out.
but the parallel pattern is should be used to test for the logic between dff?

Re: what's the different between serial pattern and parallel

i think that the difference of serial pattern and parallel pattern in temax
is the simulation loading.
serial pattern is serial loading the pattern into dff as practice .
parallel pattern is for speeding up the simulation ,that it parallel assign the dff with the pattern value but not shift in as practice.
is it right?
