| What kind of stepper motor? Unipolar or Bipolar? Unipolar is more easy as the driving of the coils is sequential and always push (or pull). Bipolar require a push-pull circuit. If its for a simple motion that doesnt need allot of torque i would use Unipolar, if you need torque i would use unipolar. Give us some more details please...

unipolar stepper can be driven bipolar way.
we just ignore the center taps.
bipolar driving: you may need L298N dual H bridge..
together with L297.
