I'm a student of ECE. There's paper presentation event coming up in our college. The topics are:
Coding Theory
Optimization
Image Processing
under the ECE branch.... The problem is that i don't have any background in these fields...
1. Is it still possible for me to present a paper if i don't have a background in that field?
2. If yes, which topic would you think would be the current hot topic?
3. How can i get the required info on this topic?
4. Which sub topic should i choose?
This would be my first paper if at all i participate...so i'm in need of help... Any suggestions please?

hi,
out of these topics Coding Theory,Optimization,Image Processing As i feel there will be much scope in Coding Theory as well as in Image Processing but optimization is mainly improvement of existing one. I will suggest you that you can go through Image Processing..Lots of new work is going in this field. If you required any help let me know.

Image processing is good.. u can try probin into this by goin thru some ieee papers. A few algorithms like the SVD, jebbar DCT might prove to be very useful for u.. all you can do is try FPGA and image processin based implementations.. and project work..
if u need more help u can message me
with regards,

Image processing wud be easiest I think.
Not only is a lot of documentation available (ebooks and such) but it is not very difficult to learn the basics of image processing if you have some exposure to signal processing.

I suggest coding theory. Check Carson book Communication Systems. It needs some knowledge of mathematics but you can make it I think.

The best is Image processing. I think that it is the future of various topics ( for example medical image, ... )
I suggest this book: Digital Image processing of Gonzales.
Read it. It is very good!
