hspice takes too long.

It depends on what kind of circuit you're simulating. Accuracy and speed are trade-offs.

Speed and accuracy at the same time is not always possible. Sometimes you can trade off speed with accuracy. And vice versa.

Actually you must look for accuracy first. I believe this is never 100% possible, not even 90%.

The most accuracy is done by EDA apps made by big companies which update component models as close as manifacturer does. Will you have errors because employee in these companies/manifacturer made accidentally number 4 for number 7 in model? Actually it happens a lot.

You should look for accuracy first then for speed.

to test accuracy you need to realize the simulated circuit. especially on not integrated ciruit a fine tuning needs to be done directly on the circuit.
many times, the results depend on your EDA ability.

You could try Winspice... I liked it.. It is very simple to use..

Try to use Orcad,

You can find a student version at their website, time passes and still a great tool.

As long as you are not developing a huge circuit, for a power supply or a few stages amplifier, it would be more than enough

But in orcad too you have to adjust probe collection (to get small *.dat file) and time step. Try to avoid mixing of analog, digital and ABM components because you will get long time of simulation and problems with convergence.
