I am using Silvaco Expert as my layout editor. Anybody who are using this tool? Is it same with virtuoso?

There are many good layout point tools( such as Leditor, virtuoso, ICstation, laker, etc). But in the view of IC design flow (include physical verification and anaylsis), virutoso is the best one definitely.

I am using Virtuoso XL for few years and quite happy with it. The new version of cadence ic tools (5.1.4.1 I think) has some improvements for analog layout design, but I have'nt tried it yet. Can someone can share his/hers experience?

I have uesd Virtouso and L_Edit, and Virtouso is better and more powerful.

Hi,

I have worked on Microwind, L-Edit for layout design. Currently, am using Cadence Virtuoso Layout Editor. Comparatively, Virtuoso is the best and user's friendly.

Post19 Apr 2006 12:28   What is the best layout editor?

every too; has got its own advantages & disadvantages too.

selecting the exact one is the thing which is most inportant.

for example laker is good for doing designs up to block level.

virtuso is best for doing design at chip level.

laker never crashers, but yet some times virtuso crashes.

lot more to share bcz i have worked on both.

Post15 Jun 2006 12:27   Re: What is the best layout editor?

I have used virtuoso for a long while and I think it is very practical and powerful.
Recently ,our laboratory buy silvaco's software from sigapore,so I must try to use Expert . The first experssion Expert give us is that it is not very kind and considerate and something else . Anyway, I am not very satisfied about it.
I am very appreciate if anybody can share his/her useful experience to us.

I think the Cadence Virtuoso is very good layout editor for analog and digital design both, especially mixed signal. The engine has enough power
