How to recover the bios password on DELL LATITUDE D500?
for this question i spend more than a week to find a solution for my laptop. lot of posts on the internet and a very crazy ways ended with nothing. Finally i found the proper solution for it:
1- remove battery
2- look inside the place of the battery, behine the small speaker; you will find a small plastic cover.. arround 1.5x3 cm... it is removable.. try to remove it gently. you will find another grean battery connected to a black plate with white connector. remove this connectoer.
3- re-attach only the big batteryand start the system.
4- inter the bios setup mode by pressing F2.
5- from the password menu, on the configuration password, hit the right arrow. you will find the messege: inter new password. hit inter without intering any password. then confirm with the same one.
6- exit with save settings.
7- NEVER TURN OFF THE SYSTEM>>> CONNECT YOUR EXTERNAL AC POWER SUPPLY AND KEEP THE SYSTEM UP.
8- remove battery. NOTE THAT SYSTEM WILL NOT TURN OFF>> IT WILL REMAIN ON.
9- connect back the white connector for that grean small battery and return back everything as it was.
ConGrAtuLAtiOnS..... your password has been reset.

I know how to fix the password for any dell latitude laptop because i am a motherboard repairer. For dell i find only 1 way to break the password that in its motherboard near to the bios chip there is a serial eeprom IC of 8 legs. its name will be like 29c54, 39c54, 29c52 or will be identical. this the ic where the password has been saved by dell laptop. so the quistion is how to remove the password. there two way only
1) to make shortage of 6th and 3rd pin (most of time this way has not been suceeded)
2) this is the perfect way just read carefuuly now these ic are reprogramable so to remove the password first u have save its binary from a none password laptop of same modal and then u have to reprogram ur ic that have password inside. when reprogram the ic its password will be gone. and i did it many times
Note: to save an IC programming and after to reprogram to another ic u need an IC programmer

A. By Using the Motherboard Jumper:
In most motherboards CMOS battery is soldered, which makes it difficult to remove the battery. In this case we use another method.
Almost all motherboards contain a jumper that can clear all CMOS settings along with the BIOS password. The location of this jumper varies depending upon the motherboard brand. You should read your motherboard manual to check its location. If you don't have the manual then look for the jumpers near the CMOS battery. Most of the manufacturer label the jumper as CLR, CLEAR, CLEAR CMOS, etc.
When you find the jumper, look carefully. There will be 3 pins and the jumper will be joining the center pin to either left or right pin. What you need to do, is remove the jumper and join the center pin to the opposite pin. e.g. if the jumper joins center pin to left pin, then remove it and join center pin to right pin. Now wait for a few seconds and then again remove the jumper and join the center pin to left pin.
Make sure to turn the PC off before opening the cabinet and resetting the jumper.
B. By Using Software:
I have found that BIOS/CMOS Password Recovery Tool is the most effective.:
BIOS/CMOS Password Recovery Tool is a program that works instantly to remove any lost or forgotten BIOS/CMOS password. Simply boot your PC to DOS and execute the program, and get access to forgotten BIOS/CMOS passwords in just seconds
