05 Jan 2005 15:59 transmission lines frequency ? |
|

all we know that the transmission line frequency in europe and asia
is about 50Hz to 60Hz my question is that ..why we use 50 or 60
why we don't use ,by example 30Hz or 100Hz .is it international
standard or there is some thing behind theoritically or practically.
so why we choose those two frequncies only.?

| It was an economic tradeoff in the early days. Higher frequency made less material in the transformers which lowered the cost of the transformers. Higher frequency made more loss in the transformer which made higher operating cost for the wasted power.

i think it/ depent on this consideration:
1. harmonic frequency
2. safety
3. Torsion is build more in low rotation turbin (generator turbine)
