Post02 Jan 2005 23:07   Wireless - transmitter and receiver

Hi

Im doing another mini-project and I need to connect a transmitter and receiver to two AT89C51 respectively so that temperature microcontoller with transmitter send the data to the reciever but the problem is that I don't know nothing about wireless circuit such as ultrasonic, IR and radio circuit. I intend to experiment with three different wireless channel so can you please give me any recommendation?

P.S - Do I need to transmit serial data across wireless channel using PWM or serial communication? Which one is better? I look forward to hear from you guys

Definately serial communication. Forget PWM, not ment for communication between points.

So that means I will have to use RS232 and connect to the wireless circuit?

If you use a microcontroller and serial communication to communicate with it you need to use at least some RS232 communication.

It's depend on your Tx and Rx interface needed what voltage level. If it needs only TTL level you can connect with the uC directly then transmit and receive serially.

i saw somw rf kits made of simple transistors , caps , resitors and saw . does some has schematic for this kind of receiver/transmitter?

Klystron

Thank you for suggesting to use Nordic nRF24E1 chip and I believe it will be useful for my mini-project but do you know any tutorial or examples of using this chip to communicate wireless?

Take a look at the Nordic site http://www.nordicsemi.no
Ther is a example for a wireless mouse

Recently I made this RX and TX with SAW resonator. It operates on 433.92MHz with ASK modulation. Max modulation frequency is about 6kHz square pulses with amplitude equal supply voltage.

Goto Rentrons site and look around there real good and you will find a lot of good information and examples.

i think it's depent on your design consideration, sush as:
1. power consumtion
2. distance
3. communication between equipment (micro)
4. transmission medium

RX+TX+antenna 422MHz.zip - ZIP archive, unpacked size 131,073 bytes

btw if i am not using smd component would it work well, and how do i get the saw resonator
thank's

SMD elements are used for smaller dimensions of RX and TX. I have not tried ordinary elements. Stability problems may arise.
