Please post your recommendations or critiques of projects sites concerning RFID Technologies.

I'm always on the lookout for any online RFID related projects resources.

One recommendation is the following site:

This project aimed to develop a wireless system to detect and allow only the authorized persons. The system was based on Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology and consists of a passive RFID tag. The passive micro transponder tag collects power from the 125 KHz magnetic field generated by the base station, gathers information about the Tag ID and sends this information to the base station. The base station receives, decodes and checks the information available in its Database and Manchester code was used to send those information. The system performed as desired with a 10cm diameter antenna attached to the transponder. The Base Station is built by using the Popular 8051 family Microcontroller. It gets the tag ID and if the tag ID is stored in its memory then the microcontroller will allow the person inside.

RFID Reader Module, are also called as interrogators. They convert radio waves returned from the RFID tag into a form that can be passed on to Controllers, which can make use of it. RFID tags and readers have to be tuned to the same frequency in order to communicate. RFID systems use many different frequencies, but the most common and widely used Reader frequency is 125 KHz.

RFID Based Security System (AT89S52 + RFID)

RFID is a great technology, has may uses and become very cheap and easy to implement these days. Very interesting and useful project can be made by using RFID technology. In our tutorial series on RFID we will get introduced to this magical technology and practically create RFID based solutions.

Interfacing RFID Reader with AVR MCUs – AVR Tutorial

This topic covers the interfacing of RFID system with microcontroller through serial interrupt. An RFID system consists of a reader device and a transponder. A transponder or tag has a unique serial number which is identified by the reader. RFID tag is applied to products, individuals or animals to identify and track them through this number.

The interfacing has been done through AT89C51. The identification code of the tag is also displayed on a 16x2 LCD. The free source code for the program is available in C.

A RFID-based proximity security system for use with Cornell Identification cards, which have been RFID-embedded since fall of 2003.

Proximity Security System

An extensive and well documented RFID project, well worth a look.

The full potential of RFID technology has yet to be realized because of the inconvenient and costly implementation prescribed by the necessity for a wired infrastructure to transmit the valuable data to a central location. In order to advance this technology, this project designed and implemented a proof-of-concept wireless RFID reader system, composed of distributed autonomous nodes that communicate using the ZigBee standard.

ZigBee-Enabled RFID Reader Network

PlayStand is a CD player. You can play CD by simply putting the CD to a stand. PlayStand identifies an RFID tag embedded in a CD case and plays corresponding MP3 songs to the ID.

This device can do almost anything involving almost any kind of low-(~125 kHz) or high-(~13.56 MHz) frequency RFID tag. It can act as a reader. It can eavesdrop on a transaction between another reader and a tag. It can analyze the signal received over the air more closely, for example to perform an attack in which we derive information from the tag's instantaneous power consumption. It can pretend to be a tag itself. It is also capable of some less obviously useful operations that might come in handy for development work.
